Registrations are now open for the 2026 New Zealand Ninja Obstacle event - held this April 3–5 2026 at Flow Academy in Albany.

Get ready to test your strength, agility, and determination on our epic ninja obstacle course. Join us for an unforgettable weekend of excitement and challenge, where competitors from across the country will test their strength, skill, and determination to become Aotearoa’s first Ninja champion!

There will be limited time slots available according to your age groups this year. Cheer on your friends, challenge yourself, and be part of history in the making. Be inspired, be amazed, and be part of the action at Aotearoa Toa.

  • Bookings timeslots are allocated for the age group to complete the qualifiers and finals

  • Open and adult athlete times are on the Friday from 7.30pm -9.30pm

  • Family friendly times are on Saturday and Sunday

  • Arrive 30 minutes early to check in, attend a safety briefing & outline of the courses & obstacles.

BLUE COURSE: Beginners level of fitness and age recommended 7-9 years Males / 7-15 years Females

Beginners Fitness recommendations:

● Hang for up to 30 seconds
● Can jump 1 to 1.5 meters
● Can Rock climb Up to V0 or grade 15
● Can do the monkey bars
● Can rope pull up to 20KG
● Can reach the top of a quarter pipe skate ramp

Age and Difficulty Categories, Course Obstacles

Information, and Physical Fitness Recommendations

All obstacles mentioned may or may not be included in the final Aotearoa Toa ninja course. Obstacles will be changed, removed, adapted, or replaced with a variety of different obstacles for all three levels of difficulty. The obstacle list is not confirmed and may change on the day of the competition. Obstacle difficulty levels and age recommendations are only a guide, and participants can register for any difficulty level.

Competition Categories:

All categories are divided into male, female and non binary

Youth B: 7-9 (Blue Course)

Youth A: 10-15 (Green Course Males/ Blue Course Females)

Junior: 16-19 (Red Course Males/ Green Course Females)

Open: 20+ (Red Course Males/ Red or Green Course Females)

Masters: 40+ (Red Course Males/ Green Course Females)

Course Difficulty, Fitness & Age Recommendations:

Fitness recommendations are more like guidelines, so you don't have to meet every single one to compete.

GREEN COURSE: Intermediate level of fitness and age recommendation 10-15 years old Males / 16+ Females

Intermediate Fitness recommendations:

● Hang for up to 1 minute
● Can standing jump at or over 1.5 meters
● Can running stride at or over 1.5 meter distances
● Can rock climb V0-V3 or Grade 16 - 18
● Can skip monkey bars
● Can do a couple of double hand campus rungs or similar
● Can do a simple lachΓ© (swing, release and catch)
● Can rope pull up to 40kg
● Can reach the top of a half pipe skate ramp
● Can do a mantle or form of a climb up

RED COURSE: The Advanced level of fitness and age recommended 16+ years old Males and Females

Advanced Fitness recommendations:

● Hang for over 1 minute
● Can standing jump over 2 meters
● Can running stride over 2 meters
● Can rock climb V4 or Grade 20 and above
● Can do brachiation on monkey bars (one arm at a time)
● Can do a standard double hand campus rungs or similar 5 or more times
● Can do a variety of lachΓ© (swing, release and catch)
● Can rope pull over 50kg
● Can do a 180 jump and catch from a cat hang/arm hang (Hanging in an arm
hang or cat hang (hands on the top edge of a block and feet touching the wall,
jump and spin 180 degrees and catch the top edge of the next block with hands
and feet on the wall)
● Can reach the top of a vert skate ramp, or complete a warped wall
● Can do a mantle or form of a climb up

Aotearoa Toa Ninja Warrior offers three distinct courses tailored to different skill levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Each course is designed to challenge competitors at their respective levels, ensuring a thrilling and fair competition for all. Whether you're new to ninja warrior or a seasoned competitor, there's a course suited to your abilities, allowing you to push your limits and showcase your skills on the national stage

TYPES OF OBSTACLES

Aotearoa Toa Ninja Warrior features a wide variety of obstacles that will test competitors' strength, agility, and endurance. From the iconic Warped Wall to the classic Quad Steps, each obstacle is designed to push competitors to their limits and provide an exciting challenge for participants. With obstacles inspired by the hit TV show and new challenges unique to Aotearoa Toa, this competition promises to be the ultimate test of ninja warrior skill and determination.

FLOW ACADEMY VENUE

Aotearoa Toa Ninja Warrior will take place at the prestigious Flow Academy, a state-of-the-art facility designed to challenge and inspire ninja warriors of all levels. Featuring world-class obstacles and equipment, Flow Academy provides the perfect setting for competitors to showcase their skills and push their limits. With expert coaching and a supportive atmosphere, Flow Academy is the ultimate venue for the Aotearoa Toa Ninja Warrior competition.
